Explore Your World, Girl Scout!

GSCSNJ's Travel Program equips Girl Scouts to change the world by giving them the opportunity to experience it! Our Travel Program offers a robust experience that follows the Girl Scout Travel Progression and offers a wealth of opportunities for girls to develop skills in leadership and confidence. It's designed to ensure our members get the most out of their Girl Scout years, while following our safety protocols. Travel opportunities are available for every level, budget and area of interest.

Travel Progression is as follows:

Overnight Trips: A trip of one—or possibly two—nights away. These short trips are just long enough to get girls excited about travel, but not long enough to generate homesickness
Regional Trips:   Juniors and older at time of travel. (Juniors must travel with a troop leader or adult.) Three- or four-nights within the girls’ home region taking girls up to a few hours away from home.
National Trips:   Juniors and older at time of travel. (Juniors must travel with a troop leader or adult.) Travel anywhere in the country and can last up to a week or more.
International Trips:  Rising 9th graders and older at time of travel.  Travel around the world can require one to three years of preparation. International trips are available to Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, but only to those who have successfully participated in a progression of overnight and extended trips within Girl Scouting.

For those looking to connect with others interested in travel, we have a special, online Travel Rally just for you. This is the place to share photos from trips, ask for recommendations, and build a community of fellow Girl Scouts with wandering feet. You can find the Rally and request to join here.

Girl Scout Destinations and Troop Getaways:

GSUSA’s Destinations opportunities are the ultimate adventure for individual girls ages 11 and older. With different trips every year, there is something amazing for everyone. Pack your bags full of life-changing experiences and make friends from all over the country as you travel with Girl Scouts from different states. If you have questions about Destinations and want to learn more about subsidized tranportation grants, please contact xxxxx.

GSUSA’s Getaways are ready-made experiences. Check out these curated events hosted by Girl Scout councils and partners. Your troop can just register and go! (Be sure to let your home Girl Scout council know you are traveling.)

National Trips:

Sojourn to Savannah (November 5-8, 2026 during NJEA school break for GSCSNJ Cadettes.) toggle arrow

Girl Scouts in 7, 8 & 9th grades will make a special trip during NJEA break, flying to Georgia, to learn about Juliette Gordon Low and her hometown of Savannah!

They will visit the Girl Scout First Headquarters and Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthplace—all as they experience the beauty of Savannah and its many other adventures. 

This girl-led trip will allow participants to select their own adventures while cultivating personal leadership, practicing life-skills, expanding their comfort zones, and making new friends and memories to last a lifetime!

Hosted by the GSCSNJ Volunteer Trip and Travel Committee, and includes the supervision of 3 background checked registered Girl Scout Adult Chaperones.

Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro, PA (Early June) toggle arrow

Since 1967 thousands of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, and other youth groups have gathered at the Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro, PA. International Trips

Our Volunteer Trip and Travel Committee invites you to travel the world.  Troops, Individuals, Juliettes, Graduated 12th graders and Leader/Daughter pairs round out our group with seasoned and trained Chaperones. Spaces are limited and the age requirements mean the age at the time of travel. Register early for lowest prices, discounts and affordable monthly payments. Fundraising support is available! We can’t wait to travel with you and your troop!

From the lively streets of London and Paris to the breathtaking Swiss Alps, this itinerary includes ceremonies at both Pax Lodge and Our Chalet, two Girl Scout World Centers!

We did this same tour in 2024 and watched the girls gain confidence, form lasting friendships, and even start dreaming about studying or volunteering abroad.

Take advantage of round-the-clock daylight during the summer in this otherworldly place of dramatic beauty. Revel in the geothermal wonders of Iceland—hot springs, volcanic craters and subarctic fauna. Join us in a unique adventure to visit to the Our Cabana WAGGGS World Center in Mexico City. This trip offers unparalleled opportunities to explore another culture’s traditions and customs while interacting with Girl Guides from around the world.

Follow in the footsteps of famous musicians as you soak up Munich’s Bavarian charm, visit Mozart’s Birthplace, tour The Sound of Music in Salzburg, and experience traditional Hungarian folk music. Bursting into spontaneous song among rolling green hills is encouraged.

Costa Rica & Panama 2028—Ultimate Recreation Adventure toggle arrow

Journey into the heart of Central America as you experience Costa Rica and Panama. During your time in Panama, explore the area’s abundant flora and fauna at the Biomuseo and see one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, the Panama Canal. In Costa Rica, you’ll discover the volcanic Arenal Region and the rich wildlife of the Rincón de la Vieja National Park in Guanacaste. Snorkeling, kayaking, zip-lining, surfing, hot springs, and whitewater rafting round out the adventures!
