Aloha Mai Kakou, Girl Scout Ohana! Come by Cherry Hill Shop on April 17th from 6:30pm - 8pm to help us celebrate May Day, a Hawaiian Holiday! May Day, also known as Lei Day, is a traditional Hawaiian celebration and holiday that is celebrated throughout the Island Kingdom of Hawaii Participants will earn the Asian American Pacific Islander fun patch for this program apart of the Multi-Cultural Heritage patches! Each island is celebrated through dance and wearing the traditional flower lei in the color which represents the one of the eight islands. The Keiki (children) will discover the beautiful cultural richness through tasting some traditional Hawaiian poi (mashed taro). Participants will make a fake flower lei and learn their importance and flowers that are used to make them. We will finish off our celebration by learning basic steps of hula and other Polynesian dances from the islands of Tahaiti, Fiji and Cook Islands. Come listen to the beautiful music of the islands and feel the Aloha Spirit! Can't wait to see you all there! A Hui Hou and Chee Hoo!
