Exclusively reserved for GSCSNJ- Spend a night on the legendary
Battleship New Jersey, a floating museum on the Camden Waterfront
across from Penn's Landing, Philadelphia. From the moment you walk up
the gangway, you'll be greeted with a breathtaking display of the
battleship's size. She's nearly three football fields long and eleven
stories high. During your stay, you'll develop an appreciation of
this Iowa-class battleship built to "keep floating and keep
fighting". This exclusive GSCSNJ sleepover is designed for Girl
Scouts of all ages to experience life on a real battleship. Girls will
have the unique opportunity to explore the ship, engage in fun and
educational activities, and bond with fellow Girl Scouts.
Highlights:
-Guided tour to discover the fascinating history of
the Battleship New Jersey led by knowledgeable staff.
- Live
Gunshoot and "USO" type show
-See the Captain's and
Admiral's cabins, the Officer's Wardroom and much more while climbing
up and down the ship's original ladders and companionways.
-Explore the science behind the battleship with museum educators that
bring naval history to life.
- Learn about the roles the
Battleship New Jersey played in World War ll, Korea, Vietnam and the
Persian Gulf. The most decorated battleship in US Naval history has
much to share.
Live Like a Sailor: Come aboard and
-Experience what it's like to sleep in the same bunks as the enlisted
sailors who served on the ship.
-Stow your gear in a locker -
the same lockers that held sailor's personal belongings when at
sea.
- "Chow down" in the Crew's Mess.
ALL ADULTS AND GIRLS MUST BE REGISTERED TO ATTEND
Troop Leaders
/ GS Adults: All Troops leaders and adults must meet The Battleship NJ
girl-adult ratios for their group.
The Battleship NJ requires
the following ratios of children to adults:
Girls ages 5-9,1:1
ratio of children to adults.
Girls ages 10-12, 5:1 ratio of
children to adults.
Girls age 12 (+), 7:1 ratio of children to
adults.
It is strongly encouraged that there are no more then 3
girls per adult and all Individual girls must be accompanied by a
registered adult.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a male Troop
Leader make sure you have an unrelated female attending with your
Troop to be with your Girl Scouts for sleeping arrangements.
Before the event, all registrations will be verified by GSCSNJ. Troop
Leaders and GS Adults will be contacted to confirm their group
attendance and sleeping arrangements.
