Explore the unique ecosystem of New Jersey's salt marshes, stretching from Cape May to Sandy Hook, and discover the fascinating world of the northern diamondback terrapin. During this engaging program, Girl Scouts will have the chance to meet terrapins and other turtle species up close, learning about their habitats and how to protect them.

June marks the beginning of the nesting season, offering a special opportunity to observe female terrapins nesting and see hatchlings up close. This hands-on experience is designed to inspire and educate young minds about the importance of conservation. You'll also learn about the threats these creatures face, such as cars and crab traps, and what can be done to protect them.

Girl Scouts will receive a Wetlands Institute Fun Patch and a turtle bracelet as a reminder of their educational journey, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our natural world.
