Career Preparedness Class

What was the name and purpose of your Gold Award project?

My Gold Award project name was Career Preparedness Class. The purpose of it was to prepare young adults in my local community for the workforce by building cover letters and resumes. We especially focused on careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) by having workshops during my classes.

What sustainable impact did your Gold Award project have on the community?

My Gold Award project was sustainable by the facility where I held my class. They continue to hold the career classes for the local community.

What insights/takeaway did you gain from your project?

After completing my Gold Award project, I have a better insight into future career paths and how to achieve career goals. I have taken away strong leadership skills, a better understanding of my future plans/goals, and I feel much more connected to my community.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Earning my Gold Award was a great achievement of mine, and I hope I was able to impact someone that attended my workshops for the better.

What is your favorite memory of completing your Gold Award project?

My favorite memory of my project was the science experiments and seeing how much everyone enjoyed completing them. We got to make slime and a volcano out of baking soda and a two-liter soda bottle.
