Earn Highest Awards

Every Girl Scout goes above and beyond to make a difference in her community and the greater world. The skills and experiences she gains along the way set her up for special recognition through the Girl Scout Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards.

All three awards give girls the chance to do big things while supporting issues they care about. To find out more about working on the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards click the link below for a recorded webinar.

As girls earn one of Girl Scouts’ highest awards, they will change their corner of the world—and beyond. The possibilities are endless.

Religious Awards

During this challenging time, when many of us are working remotely, and our children are home, it would be an excellent opportunity to encourage volunteers and families to consider faith awards to enrich their Girl Scout’s learning.

Check out the P.R.A.Y. website for resources and videos to get you started. Recently P.R.A.Y. offered Facebook Live sessions for parents and troop leaders to connect and prepare to offer religious emblem instruction at home while fulfilling stay-at-home requirements from their local municipality or State government.  Religious Emblems, when seen as advancement, are another way to keep girls connected and active in their Girl Scout experience. In addition to the Facebook Live session, P.R.A.Y. has opened and is adding to their offerings for Virtual Learning

Pray Extends Eligibility In Response to COVID-19

Extension Deadline: December 31, 2020

As we all learn to cope with this age of social distancing, and recognizing that church and regular meetings have been suspended, P.R.A.Y. adopted the following policy on March 17 to ensure that young people do not miss the opportunity to earn their P.R.A.Y. emblem while maintaining eligibility for the Four-Star Award:

At the request of clergy and counselors, a special eligibility extension is in effect until December 31, 2020. This means that students who are eligible for a program based on their current grade level in March 2020, will still be eligible to earn that award until the end of this calendar year, December 31, 2020. Instead of aging out of a program in the fall when starting a new grade at school, the P.R.A.Y. extension will allow young people to complete their requirements until December 31, 2020.

P.R.A.Y. is open and shipping on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through at least May 15. While we are not able to always answer the phone, we will do our best to return your calls in a timely fashion. Please let us know if we can serve immediately via email, info@praypub.org.

Family Engagement
Volunteer Toolkit (VTK)

The VTK is another resource parents can use for programming with their girls. Parents can see what Year Plan the troop chose and what badges they were planning to work on throughout the Girl Scout year. Parents and Girl Scouts can log into MyGS, click on the Volunteer Toolkit tab, and work independently on badges. All the directions are in the Volunteer Toolkit. Please check out the VTK Parent Guide for more information.

Girl Scout Family Connection

Girl Scout families can also check out Girl Scout Family Connection, our family’s go-to, super-fun guide. They can work in it with their Girl Scouts at home.

Please Note: The resource above is the original version, created before COVID-19 calendar changes. Changes to specific dates may have occurred.

(NEW!) Keep Girl Scouts Going

During this time when troops are not able to meet in person, many families are looking for ways to carry on Girl Scouting. By providing parents and caregivers with resources to help them facilitate Girl Scout experiences at home, our Keep Girl Scouts Going guide can ease some of the pressure on troop leaders who may be struggling to balance things like family, work, and Girl Scouting.

Community Service from Home
The Girl Scout Guide to Helping Others During the COVID-10 Pandemic [PDF]

It’s in our Girl Scout DNA to help in a time of crisis. For those that are healthy and want to help others, there are multiple ways to help those in need during the novel coronavirus outbreak. But how can we do so responsibly? In some cases, you don’t even need to step outside your home to help in a meaningful way.

This guide is a starting point for ideas you and your family can contribute to the community, whether it’s safely helping with COVID-19 outbreak efforts or taking action for community betterment.

Talking To Your Girl About COVID-19

Be a Source of Comfort and Calm for Girls

Throughout our history, Girl Scouts have played an important role in helping to keep our country safe. The 1947 Girl Scout Handbook explains: "A Girl Scout is ready to help out wherever she is needed. Willingness to serve is not enough; you must know how to do the job well, even in an emergency." During World War II, Girl Scouts tended victory gardens, sold war bonds, and collected scrap metal. The work of today’s Girl Scouts is just as essential.

Girl Scouts can continue to demonstrate leadership in the fight against coronavirus by teaching proper handwashing and other hygiene practices to their peers. They can learn about how coronavirus is spread and how to protect themselves and share this information with others. Girl Scouts can be a force for good by confronting misinformation about Asian-Americans, who increasingly have been the targets of racist attacks and discrimination.
