| Orientation to Girl Scouting |
Orientation for all new Leaders. This training consists of: an overview of the history, structure, and policies and procedures of the Girl Scout Organization. The dates listed are for face to face training sessions. Requisite for all position trainings e.g. New Leader Training, Transition, & Advisor Training. Prerequisite: Volunteer Application Process. 2.5 hours

| New Leader Training for Daisy, Brownie, or Junior Girl Scouts |
Everything you need to know to manage a troop including safety standards, GSCSNJ policies, age level awards, developmental characteristics, and activities. This training is required for all new Leaders, Co-leaders, and Assistant Leaders. Prerequisite: Orientation to Girl Scouting. 2.5 hours

| Transition Training |
Program level training designed for the experienced Leader who is changing age levels with emphasis on age level resources, Troop government, awards, and developmental characteristics of the specific age level. Prerequisite: New Leader Training. 2 hours

| Advisor Training |
Training for Leaders of Cadette and Senior GS making the transition from Leader to Advisor. Particular emphasis will be on the development of girl driven programming. Prerequisite: New Leader Training. 3 hours

CPR/First Aid
|
Required training for all First Aiders. A First Aider must accompany Troops on any high risk trip. If you are not sure if the trip you are planning is high risk please contact your Membership Specialist. The First Aider need not be the Leader of the Troop. For the convenience of our volunteers we offer courses given by the American Red Cross (ARC,) American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI.) There is a $40 charge for the complete course. If you wish to take just CPR or just First Aid the charge is $20. American Red Cross and American Heart Association course fees are payable to GSCSNJ. American Safety & Health Institute course fees are payable to R House Health and Safety. If you wish, you may take CPR/First Aid from outside agencies. Be sure that the CPR course covers both adult and child CPR. Please consult Safety Wise for approved courses.

| Overnight/Outdoor Training |
Overnight Adventures
This course qualifies adult volunteers to take girls on overnight trips at museums/activity centers, lock-ins, hotels, and cabin camping with no outdoor cooking. Prerequisite for Outdoor Skills I. 3 hours

Outdoor Skills I
|
This outdoor course consists of hands on activities providing the skills needed to participate in an overnight camping experience that includes fire building and elementary cooking methods. Prerequisite Overnight Adventures. 4 hours

| Outdoor Skills II (Overnight) |
This overnight experience certifies adult volunteers to take girls on camp outs where the girls will be cooking outdoors. Participants will receive a packet in advance of the training which will include clothes to pack, cooking equipment, and food to bring. These items will be needed to complete the training successfully. This session enables participants to utilize tent units and includes a special focus on program activities. This course is a rain or shine activity. You will be notified by the Lead Trainer if there is a cancellation due to weather conditions. Prerequisite: Outdoor Skills I. Overnight

| Service Team Training |
The Service Team is integral to the success of our Leadership. We offer position specific training for these key positions: Service Unit Manager (SUM,) Organizer/Recruiter,Troop Consultant, Registrar and Treasurer. These Service Team members are required to complete training for the position.

Organizer/Recruiter |
The training gives you the tools, resources and strategies to recruit and place Girl Scout Volunteers and girls. Open to Service Unit Organizers Recruiters, SU Manager, and leaders. |

| Service Unit Registrar |
| This training covers council registration procedures. |
| |
Service Unit Treasurer
Learn the responsibilities of the Service Unit Treasurer which include maintaining and overseeing the Service Unit and troop bank accounts, community income and expenses. Learn how to complete the yearly Community and Troop Financial Summaries and summit them to council. |

SUM Orientation |
| Learn how to work in partnership with Membership staff to manage the effective delivery and extension of the Girl Scout program. |

Troop Consultant |
Learn how to assist and support the Leadership of your Service Unit by translating your experience into practical tools.
