Outdoor 103: Outdoor Skills Overnight 4/8/17-4/9/17
Prerequisite: Outdoor 102: Overnight Adventures, Corresponding Prep Course
This course qualifies adult volunteers to take girls on campouts where the girls will be cooking outdoors, having any type of fire, sleeping in cabins, yurts, platform tents or pitched tents. During this session you will experience hand-on activities such as: learning how to use a sketch map, reading trail blazes, preventing exposure to and removing deer ticks, tying knots, building and putting out a fire, performing flag ceremonies, pitching a tent, making a box oven, using a propane stove, Dutch oven and vagabond stove, and other basic camping skills.
Outdoor Skills is comprised of two sessions - Prep and Overnight. You must complete both sessions to certify as a Camp Trained volunteer. When you register for Outdoor Skills, you will be automatically registered for the appropriate Prep course for that session. Please make sure to add both dates to your calendar.
This session qualifies participants to use cabin and tent units. This is a rain or shine activity. If there is a cancellation, you will be notified by the Lead Trainer.
Girl Scouts who are 14 years or older may take this course. Same prerequisites apply.
