American Red Cross Fundamentals of Canoeing (Sacy and Kettle Run) CANCELLED Comments

Prerequisite: Girl Scout membership, Girl Scouting 101: GSUSA Orientation to Girl Scouting, Adult and Child CPR and First Aid
To determine what is required to take girls on the water, consult the Safety Activity checkpoints. There is a $100.00 charge for the complete course for members and $112.00 for non-member adults (Includes American Red Cross Fundamentals of Canoeing Card, training materials and equipment use). The Fundamentals of Canoeing will provide adults with instruction in canoeing strokes, safety skills related to usage of canoes, and how to perform simple assists and rescues. Some kayaking skills will be included. Participants of this course with satisfactory completion, will be able to instruct girls in canoe water activities and will be called upon to supervise canoeing activities at camp during weekends as his/her schedule permits.
This is a two-day course. June 8th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Camp Sacy and June 15th from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m at Camp Kettle Run.
Must be 21 years old to take this course.
Please be advised that you will be in boats and will get wet. A pool session is scheduled for the first day. Cell phones and valuables should be left on shore.
Park at Sacajawea's front lot (facing outwards).
Bathing suit and towel
Old sneakers or water shoes to be worn in the canoe
A hat and sun screen
Eye glass strap for glasses or sunglasses
Food for lunch and snacks
Water to drink
Change of clothes for each day
Proof of current first aid and CPR
Optional: your own Personal Floatation Device
