Direct Service—work directly with girls in grades K -12
Series Volunteer
Have an immediate impact on the lives of girls in the community by serving as a role model, mentor, friend and leader. Utilize the skills/passion for a topic you already have (such as photography, knitting, math, dance, science, athletics) or we can help you develop a program utilizing Girl Scout Program materials. If you enjoy working with youth, promoting strong spirits in today's young women, and sharing your skills this is the role for you!

Troop Leader/Advisor

An adult who has taken local Girl Scout Council approved CPR and First Aid training from a GSUSA approved program. Provide first aid coverage for groups of girls going on trips or participating in high risk activities like rock climbing, camping, etc.

Indirect Service—works with adults & other volunteers
Volunteer Interviewer
The Volunteer Interviewer gathers relevant information about potential volunteer candidates while assessing which positions volunteers are best suited to fill. The nature of this position requires the individual to provide indirect service to girls. The Volunteer Interviewer receives support, guidance, and encouragement from the Manager, Recruitment & Retention, and the Recruitment & Retention team. She or he has access to relevant learning opportunities and materials that prepare for and support this role.

Community Champion
The Community Champion is responsible for representing Girl Scouting within identified communities by leading task forces, participating on community committees, delivering presentations and advising staff and volunteers on how best to cultivate relationships within identified communities, based on target markets and membership strategy. The nature of this position requires the individual to provide indirect service to girls.
Training: Complete required coursework as assigned and provided by GSCSNJ and GSUSA
Time Commitment: The Community Champion is appointed for a one year term that is renewable upon completion of evaluation processes. This position requires an average of 20 hours a month.

Service Unit Manager (SUM)
Support Girl Scout volunteers in a specific geographic area. In partnership with your Service Team, you will help to develop a plan to recruit and develop leaders, meet membership and Annual Fund goals and ensure our girl members grow to become leaders through quality programming in your area.

Service Unit Registrar

Service Unit Public Relations
Purpose: To raise awareness about Girl Scouting and the Girl Scout Leadership program in the community.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ (GSCSNJ) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) communications and graphic guidelines and policies. Works collaboratively with GSCSNJ Communications Department. Stay apprised of the most up to date and accurate information for both GSCSNJ and
GSUSA. Provide the GSCSNJ Communications Department with newsworthy information, stories, pictures and other content. Develop a positive working relationship with local media. Shares press/media contact information with GSCSNJ Communications Department. Attends service unit meetings shares communication information and seeks positive stories. Prepares news releases and submits them to local media on behalf of the service unit. Communicate news stories and important council information through any service unit
social media outlets, e-mail systems and websites. Help educate the service unit about how to promote and maintain positive public relations within the community.

Council Trainer
Volunteers are always needed to deliver a variety of required courses such as: Orientation to Girl Scouting, Leadership Essentials and Outdoor Skills. We also offer workshops called Green Apples that enrich and energize the leadership e.g. Geocaching, Scrapbooking, Level 101's, Troop Management 101. The possibilities are endless. Volunteer Awards Committee Member
Develops the guidelines for the adult recognitions program and new awards to meet the needs of our growing membership. Ensures that all candidates meet specified criteria for council awards. Educates and encourages participation in the adult recognition program. Administers the organization of Celebrate the Excellence (annual adult recognitions event).
Training: Girl Scouting 101
Time Commitment: Attend scheduled meetings of the Volunteer Award Committee. Typically 2-4 meetings between January and April. 6-10 hours outside meetings January-April for nomination review and research and Celebratate the Excellence planning and set up.

Council Cares Committee Member
Review Council Cares applications, actively participate in group discussion and submit recommendations to Director of Membership Services and Community Development by deadline. Keep all information confidential. Annually review guidelines and application.

Administrative Volunteers
Administrative volunteers help with an array of tasks that support the council's work to provide resources for girls through philanthropic dollars and special events. Specific tasks may include helping with mass mailings, photocopying, filing and data entry. No special skills required for most administrative tasks. Experience with Microsoft Word or Excel necessary for data entry.
Training: Girl Scouting 101
Type: Episodic, as needed.
Time Commitment: Hours vary depending upon the task to be accomplished. Mailings take anywhere from 2 – 8 hours depending upon the number of pieces and the number of volunteers. Preparing member registration donation materials requires a total of about 80 hours.
