Giving and receiving recognition is an important component of the Volunteer Management System in Girl Scouting. A card from the girls, a handmade gift, a simple "thank you" or a special trinket from Juliette's Closet are great ways of showing your appreciation. Adult Girl Scouts may also be nominated for Adult Awards. Please remember to nominate a volunteer who has made a difference and show your appreciation.

Volunteer Shield
The Years of Service Award recognizes an adult member registered with Girl Scouts of the USA for her or his years of active volunteer service in five-year intervals (5, 10, 15, etc.). This pin differs from the numeral guard in that it represents the number of years an adult volunteer has actively provided service, whereas the numeral guard recognizes years of membership.

Numeral Guard
The Years of Membership Award depicts the number of years (girls and adult) an adult has been a registered member of the Girl Scout Movement.

Appreciation Award
The Appreciation Award recognizes an adult who has delivered outstanding service to at least one geographic area, service unit, or program delivery audience. The candidate's service goes beyond expectations for their position and furthers the Council's goals.

Honor Award
The Honor Award recognizes an adult member who has delivered outstanding service to two or more geographic areas or program delivery audiences.

Helping Hands Award
The service provided by the candidate is outstanding above and beyond the expectations for the position held and is delivered to at least one area or service unit within the council jurisdiction for a minimum of 10 years.

Thanks Badge
The service performed by the candidate is truly outstanding, benefits total council or the entire Girl Scout movement and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award should be appropriate.

Thanks Badge II
Recognizes outstanding service given by a Thanks Badge recipient.

Marti Klugman Leadership Award
Recognizes an adult volunteer who has demonstrated through outreach and/or planned travel programs for their troop, a commitment to think globally and to commit to the Take Action key of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

The STAR Award (Service Team Achievement Recognition)
The STAR recognizes the efforts of a service team in moving its assigned area toward achievement of council goals during a membership year.

Service Unit Awards
