The Women of Distinction Girl Leadership Summit is an innovative program designed to build leadership skills in girls in grades 6-12.

GSCSNJ draws upon a vast pool of talented women leaders, engaging individuals who have been honored as Women of Distinction or Women of Achievement over the years to work with girls to plan the day-long conference. Throughout the day, girls are inspired to accomplish great things by women who have led the way in medicine and the sciences, law, the arts and business and industry. Workshops, panel discussions and career options discussions are vehicles for discussing topics girls say they want to know about: preparing for college, advocacy, healthy living, stress management and caring for the environment.

Workshops Include

College 101
Are you planning for college? Have you figured out what kind of college experience you are looking for? Whether you are looking for a school in-state – or out-of-state – private or public – small or large – we can help you narrow things down! Join us for a helpful session where we will explore your choices; learn about yourself and college life. Work with our professional who will help you plan for your future and answer all your burning questions.

Interview Savvy
Learn how to rock that interview! Come to this session and find out how to make a great impression, get your foot in the door and how to seal the deal. We will teach you that actions speak louder than words, how to dress for success and show you what your body language is saying about you.

Learn it – Lead it!
As a Girl Scout you have learned what it means to be a leader – but how do you apply these leadership abilities to your future? What does it take to lead your community or take charge in the business world? Hear from women who know and find out about their leadership journey.

Girls Going Green
As Girl Scouts, we learn to use our resources wisely and to respect the world around us. This informative workshop teaches how to continue to live our promise to the world while encouraging others to join us. If you love the environment, you’ll love this workshop!

Money Smarts
Money is a complicated thing. It is required to buy things you want or need and often determines the life we are able to live. But when it comes to money, how smart are you? Are you tempted by credit cards? Do you know what APR is and how to get the lowest one? When it comes to making a purchase, how do you pay for it? This workshop can answer all of the above as well as any other questions you may have.

Stress Less
Learn to stay cool as a cucumber even in the most desperate of times. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day pressures of life, but we will give you some tactics to control your stress level and maintain a healthy balance in life. With your stress under wraps – there will be nothing keeping you from achieving your goals.

Healthy Living
Do you want to get healthy – but just don’t know where to get started? This is the workshop for you! We will help you get on track by teaching you how to eat right and make educated choices. Think you are too busy to fit in exercise? Not to worry – we will help you work fitness into your daily schedule.
