Volunteer for Fund Development

We usually think of volunteering for Girl Scouts as leading a troop, but there is a critical need for volunteers to help raise revenue so that we can all keep our promise to girls to give them the opportunities and resources they need to be tomorrow's leaders.

Fund Development volunteer positions require a variety of talents and skills.

Administrative volunteers help with an array of tasks that support the council’s work to provide resources for girls through philanthropic dollars and special events. Specific tasks may include helping with mass mailings, photocopying, filing and data entry. No special skills required for most administrative tasks. Experience with Microsoft Word or Excel necessary for data entry. Background check required.

Training: Training is minimal.
Type: Episodic, as needed.
Time Commitment: Hours vary depending upon the task to be accomplished. Mailings take anywhere from 2 – 8 hours depending upon the number of pieces and the number of volunteers. Preparing member registration donation materials requires a total of about 80 hours.

Some volunteers help set up the auction on the day of the event. Strong "people" and networking skills required. Background check required.

Service Unit Volunteers
"People give to people." In a recent survey, our members and friends said they support Girl Scouts when someone they know asks them.

Leaders, parents and alumnae in service units throughout the council are invited to join a special team of volunteers. These individuals are passionate about Girl Scouts and understand the impact the Girl Scout program has on girls. Service Unit Fund Development Volunteers will assist Service Unit Managers administer fundraising activities (other than the cookie and fall product programs) within the service unit and the council with fundraising to supplement the actual cost per girl to present the Girl Scout Experience, especially for girls whose family financial situation prevent them from fully participating.

Training: Minimum of three hours, with enrichment offered periodically
Time Commitment: One year appointment. The council's annual family campaign is strongest around registration. The time devoted varies by the amount of fundraising activity within the service unit.
